The Bradford pear info reminded me of another urban planning tree mistake - In Darwin, Australia, which is in the tropics, the council planted a lot of African mahoganies, which have shallow root systems, and then a bunch of years later once the trees were fairly big, cyclone Marcus hit at the end of a very rainy wet season and uh they are all gone now
